I like collecting complete sets. Whether its a certain insert set or a full base set I usually pick one or two sets a year to try and complete. Most of the time I end up moving on to something else before finishing the set. For 2021 I wanted to do something different that would keep me interested. With the addition of the new “ice” #’d parallels in 2021 Topps Series 1 I thought about how great the set would look in a binder with every slot having a different random parallel. So I decided for 2021 I am going to work on the 2021 Topps set in #’d parallels.

My set started off nicely with two 2021 Topps Rip Party packs containing 5 cards each #’d to 10. The front of each card has a stamp commemorating the 2021 Series 1 release rip party hosted by Topps. I received these packs after buying 2 random teams in a rip party Jumbo Hobby case break.

The best page so far, with 7 out of 9 slots filled

After opening a hobby box and a few hanger boxes I only ended up with a gold and a green parallel. I made a few deals on Twitter, received a few RAKs and bid on a few lots on eBay and I am now the owner 96 out of 330 cards in #’d parallel form!

The binder is starting to fill in. I have built up a nice stack of duplicate gold parallels. I’m going to have to be more careful buying lots. People are going to put the same unwanted cards in all the big lots of #’d parallels. I also have to watch out about buying too many gold parallels. While they are the easiest to find and highest #’d I don’t want my binder to be too gold. I think maximum of maybe 70 gold parallels in total would be perfect for the 330 total cards in Series 1. I need to focus on getting more RC parallels and a few of the low numbers like Camo /25, Platinum /70, or Black /70.

I have an order of Series 1 tins and hanger boxes coming in soon that I hope will add to the binder. I am working on an Excel spreadsheet of my collection to keep track of what cards I still need to find to complete the #’d set. I’m hoping to get this 90% complete before Series 2 releases. I’ll keep you updated throughout the journey!
